A space heater pulls 1,500 watts to warm the air of a whole room. Calinéa uses under 10 watts to warm you: 150 times less energy, about 1 cent for an 8-hour day.

Why does it cost more than the cheap ones?
Because a cheap heated wrap ends up in the trash by January: the cable gives out at the first wash, the knit pills, the warmth doesn't last.
Calinéa is made of thick waffle knit lined with fleece, with a flexible heating panel that handles the washing machine, a sturdy zipper and a button that unclips. It's made to last the whole winter, and the next ones.
And it pays for itself: about 1 cent a day, when a space heater costs around $2. If it saves you from switching the heater on, it pays for itself in under six weeks (1,500 W heater, 8 hours a day, $0.17 per kWh).

Can I wash it?
Yes. Unclip the small control button and its cable, then machine wash on a gentle cycle at 86 °F (30 °C). Let it dry completely before plugging it back in.
What powers it?
Any USB power bank (the one you use for your phone works) or a regular USB wall charger. The power bank slips into the inside pocket. It isn't included, since most homes already have one.
Is it safe?
It runs on 5 volts, the same low voltage as a phone, so there's no household current anywhere near your body. The warmth is gentle, adjustable on 3 levels, and one press turns it off.
Does it really keep you warm?
It spreads a gentle, wrap-around warmth across your upper back and neck, where you feel the cold when you sit still. It's not a heater: it's a cocoon that keeps your body comfortable, even in a cool room.
What size should I get?
One size: 59 × 31 in (150 × 80 cm), a relaxed fit from S to XXL. It zips closed and leaves your arms and hands free.
